This has been an amazing week for Rawfully Organic!

We celebrated an awesome first day at CITY CENTRE HOUSTON! Almost 300 families came to support us yesterday, and this week alone we have fed almost 700 families! Each co-op day has had an overwhelming sense of support and positivity lately, and all I can say is THANK YOU! Thank you for not only bringing your smiles and hugs to share, but also your passion for health, food, and community! Without each of us, this community would not exist. We are creating that which we seek: HEALTH and HAPPINESS! I know that we have a long ways to go, and I appreciate your patience in supporting us and helping us improve with each co-op day.

The volunteers this week have been simply AMAZING. Everyone has worked SO hard to help our community come together and to be ONE. We have been working SO hard to make check-outs faster, to make lines shorter, to make sure all newbies know how to pick out their shares, and to simply give hugs! We will continue to make more improvements each co-op day, so please look forward to those.

To all who have come to volunteer: THANK YOU. Our co-op would not be possible without you! All of us contribute in some way to changing the typical status quo. We are not a service or a sale, we are a community. Thank you for sharing your time and efforts for something in which we ALL believe!

Rawfully Organic has had so many amazing growth opportunities lately. We have had a new location and several new drop-offs. We have also had several newbies join as well. I appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding when things don’t go as perfectly as possible. The good news: we are all here to make it work. If you ever have a question or concern, please feel free to ask me. Please suggest improvements. I am here to help us grow with abundance and excitement. My goal is to have things flow smoothly and to create an atmosphere where everyone has fun and feels like family! I want Rawfully Organic to feel like HOME to all of us! We are a family!

The Summer season is here, and we have seen a shift in the crops these past few weeks! Peaches, nectarines, melons, berries, and more have arrived! There are less greens in the boxes and more fruits! The shares may look smaller, but that is only because fruits take up less “space” in the boxes. All of your value is still there and absolutely delicious! I will be posting TONS of new Summer box recipes, so please get ready to share and eat some very yummy treats!

We are CREATING BEAUTIFUL COMMUNITY. Together, we are creating something GREAT. We are seeing the beginning of a movement that is changing Houston and beyond! Thank YOU for sharing your heart with me and for being a part of this co-op. I am so deeply touched, and I cannot wait to see more exciting things happen! Sending my warmest hugs, fruity fruits, and blessings!

More Hugs!

FullyRaw Juice wishes to raise money for the ULTIMATE project in Texas, crafting cold-pressed, raw, organic, and local juices for all!

Fund Our Kickstarter Here!

Video Here!

The FullyRaw Juice Project is raising money for the ULTIMATE juice project! We wish to craft fresh, delicious, cold-pressed, raw, organic, and local juices for distribution in Texas and eventually, beyond!

What’s the Story Behind FullyRaw Juice?

My name is Kristina Carrillo-Bucaram, and I am the founder and creator of the companies Rawfully Organic and FullyRaw. Over 8 years ago, I healed myself from hyperglycemia by adapting to a 100% FullyRaw diet. I eat a diet composed of solely fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds, mostly fresh, ripe, organic, and local. I changed not only my body, but also my mindset and my life! This drastic change in my life inspired me to help others find health by eating more fresh fruits and vegetables. My journey to health led me to start the food co-operative Rawfully Organic.

Rawfully Organic started with 12 people in my living room, and is the largest non-profit local and organic food co-operative in the United States. It is a community co-operative in Houston, Texas that feeds families and individuals local, organic, and affordable produce while coming together to share recipes, health, friendship, and more. ROC (Rawfully Organic) has over 10,000 registered members in the Houston area alone and feeds approximately 500-600 families each week. We support local and organic farmers by purchasing and distributing their produce, and we promote healthy living through healthy diets. FullyRaw is the sister company to Rawfully Organic, and its focus is on educating families and individuals on how to use their produce to make fun, easy, and delicious raw food recipes for better health. Together, these two entities work feed, inspire, educate, and create holistic health with raw, living foods.

Within the past month, Rawfully Organic and FullyRaw have given birth to a third company: FullyRaw Juice. In simply wanting to provide the Houston community with more fresh juices, my partner and I came up with the idea to start making fresh fruit and vegetable juices for everyone made with ingredients from our Rawfully Organic co-operative boxes! The idea was simply to provide juice made from all local and organic Texas ingredients from Rawfully Organic and distribute them to the co-operative community in their produce shares. We wanted to see if this was something that people were interested in, so we had a week of test trials. Within one week, we sold out! These juices were made using my FullyRaw Recipes; delicious combinations that feature specific fruits and vegetables. The juices received so much support that requests were coming in to not only provide them that week, but also indefinitely and throughout Texas!

What is the FullyRaw Juice Project:

The FullyRaw Juice Project wishes to raise funds for the distribution of fresh, organic, and local juices within the Houston area and beyond! The juices will be made using all-organic and mostly local ingredients from Rawfully Organic. The recipes will be Kristina’s featured FullyRaw juice combinations.

What is the FullyRaw Juice Mission?

The FullyRaw Juice Project wants to make fresh-crafted, organic, and FullyRaw juices for all who wish to enjoy them! We want for the juices to not only be enjoyed by those in our co-operative community, but also by all in the greater Houston area and Texas. We not only feed ourselves nutrient-rich juices, but also help to support organic farmers and our co-operative community along the way.

Why are Drinking FullyRaw Juices Important?

Raw juices are combinations of fruits and vegetables, extracted from their fibers and condensed into a smooth liquid. Because they are unheated or unprocessed (no added chemicals or concentrates), they are juices in their purest form. These juices are essentially “living foods,” and they are bursting with vitamins and minerals. Juices can be enjoyed by all! They are delicious and easy to digest. We wish to make the highest quality juices possible. When you drink juices that taste good, you feel good!

For What Do We Need to Fund-raise?

In order for the FullyRaw Juice Project to be successful and distribute these juices to Houston and beyond, we need funding for commercial juicers, labels, refrigeration, buckets, bottles, crates, tables, and more! The commercial juicers combined cost over $25,000. The other materials including transport and refrigeration will cost at least $10,000. We have an extensive community already willing to donate time, now we need the funds to make this project possible. The more funds that are donated, the further we will be able to successfully distribute these juices.

Who’s Thirsty for Juice?!

In order for us to accomplish our mission and launch this project, we need your help. Our vision is great, and we want to make FullyRaw Juice available to all! We want to support our local Texas farmers and make this juice first available to all of our community and then expand from there.

These juices TASTE DELICIOUS, and I promise they are worth it! We want to see more options available like this in our cities, and this is the first step. Please help us by supporting our goal to grow FullyRaw Juice. We need you!

We want to be able to feed you FullyRaw Juices, whether you live in Houston or not. In time, we hope to be able to reach people nationally with these juices, if not globally with our message and education about juicing and eating raw foods!

Did you now that soda is one of the most toxic drinks for your body? They contain aspartame (rat poison), and they are filled with processed sugars, dyes, and chemicals. Here are 5 things you didn’t know about soda. Fruit juice anyone?!

1. It can be used to Clean a Toilet

2. Use it with a ball of aluminum foil for rust on chrome.

3. Clean corrosion from car battery terminals.

4. Use it to loosen a rusted bolt.

5. Hazardous materials signs are required on trucks carrying concentrated ingredients.

Now that I have your attention, here are 15 more reasons why sodas are detrimental to your health:

1. Soda will increase your cholesterol levels by up to 11%
2. Thanks to the sugar and acid in soda, it is bad for your teeth and causes tooth decay
3. Contributes to weight gain and obesity
4. Drinking soda can increase your risk of having kidney stones
5. Contains phosphoric acid which increases your risk of osteoporosis
6. Causes dehydration and contains pH levels that advance the aging of your skin
7. Studies show that drinking two or more sodas a week increases your risk of developing cancer
8. Drinking too much soda can cause insomnia due to the amount of caffeine
9. The carbonation in soda can cause acid reflux or heartburn
10. According to a 10-year study, individuals who drink two or more sodas a day have a 500 percent waist expansion in comparison to those who do not drink soda!
11. Diet sodas contain the artificial sweetener aspartame which has been shown to cause seizures, migraines, visual problems, anxiety, and other disorders.
12. Mountain Dew, Fresca and other citrus-flavored sodas contain Brominated Vegetable Oil (BVO) which has been banned in over 100 countries but not in the US.  Studies show that BVO, which is a flame retardant, can cause damage to the heart and muscles, liver damage, neurological conditions, and more.
13. Aluminum cans and plastic bottles of some sodas have linings that contain Bisphenol A (BPA) which can cause fertility problems, developmental and behavioral problems in infants and children, heart problems, and other disorders.
14. Increases your risk of diabetes
15. Affects your ability to regulate your appetite

If you’re trying to get “off the soda,” try fruit juices instead! They are nutritious, tasty, and colorful! They can be sweet or non-sweet, and most importantly, they are made with fresh ingredients and no chemicals. Juice organic ingredients if possible. For more information on the benefits of juicing, please check out my FullyRaw Facebook page or sign up for my June class “ALL ABOUT JUICING.

Replace soda with fresh, FullyRaw Juices! We will have our juices at co-op tomorrow! Instead of soft drinks, enjoy our cold-pressed, raw, organic, local, and delicious juices made with love just for you!

Are you ready for new beginnings? Fill up your plate with color, beauty, and love! Today marks the 1st day of May, starting a new goal of FullyRaw self-love everyday! The challenge: do one thing a day to show yourself love! Whether it be a FullyRaw meal, an intense workout, deep breathing, meditation, a green juice, bubble baths, or daily affirmations, show yourself LOVE. Celebrate YOU! Who’s ready to do this with me?!

I know this challenge may sound a bit scary to you, right? How does one…love…themselves?? Sounds a bit strange at first.

Everything that you do is a reflection of not only who you are, but also how you respect yourself–of how you treat yourself. Do you eat well? Do you exercise? Do you take time to sleep, meditate, or hug? All of these things are made in effort by you for the betterment of you. The act of taking care of ourselves properly is an act of self-love.

Many people do not take care of their daily basic needs. They may skip a meal, eat a “bad” meal, skip sleep, etc. Some even torture themselves emotionally. Our basic human needs are fairly simple: to eat, breathe, and love. Anything more than that is a privilege and has the potential to make life THAT much more enjoyable. So why not make each moment count?

The more time and effort that you put into YOU, the better that you will feel. You will feel more confident, secure, and happy. Even if you don’t feel like you love yourself now, little acts for yourself daily can actually help you develop self-love! If you have ever heard the phrase, “Fake it until you make it,” it’s almost the same concept. The thing about eating more raw foods is that these foods literally LOVE US BACK. These foods bring cause us to have better physical health; hence, increasing the joy in our moods! When we are more joyful and when we feel better physically, then we automatically have better emotional health and even spiritual health! FullyRaw fruits and vegetables are pure, vibrant, and colorful foods that infuse our bodies with nutritious goodness. We are what we eat! When we eat goodness, we become good. We feel good, and we wish to share more good!

The more acts of self-love that you do, the more that you will begin to not only respect yourself and your body, but all others around you. Acts of self-love benefit all whom we love because they teach us how to show love to everyone that we know.

My FullyRaw Challenge for you this month of May is simple: do one act of self-love daily. I’m not asking you to go FullyRaw, but I am asking to you try one act of self-love daily. Try eating one raw meal a day. You can have a fruit bowl, juice, or smoothie in the morning. You could have a buffet of fruit for lunch, and you can even have a huge salad for dinner! Get a box from Rawfully Organic once a week. Try taking a 10 minute walk outside or a yoga class. You can even try doing daily affirmations where you look at yourself in the mirror each day and simply say, “I am beautiful, strong, and unique. I have power. I have compassion. I understand, and I forgive. I love you.” You can even give yourself a hug! All of these things count, and they SHOW YOU LOVE.

This challenge is one of the most powerful challenges. If you do it long enough, it becomes not only a habit, but a powerful self-enforcement and shift in your life. These acts become stepping stones towards greater confidence and greater success in your life! Take them seriously, plan them daily, and focus on making yourself the best person that you can become. Envision that amazing person that you want to become. The coolest part: you already ARE that person; you just don’t know it yet!

Show yourself self-love this month and conquer this challenge. Please feel free to follow my FullyRaw Kristina Facebook Page, Rawfully Organic Facebook Page, YouTube Channel, and Instagram as I post here daily to encourage you with recipes, videos, and inspiration. No man is an island, so “lettuce” create a sea of love!

I LOVE YOU! Now go show yourself some love! <3

BREATHE GREEN. LIVE GREEN. EAT GREEN! Today is Earth Day, one of the most important days of the year to celebrate all that is good and green! This includes nature, our bodies, food, and community! “Lettuce” celebrate all the endless benefits of eating plant-based foods! Greens are the most nutritious foods on the planet, bringing oxygen and LIFE to our cells! So how do we get the most out of these foods? What is the best way to eat them? What is the best way to enjoy them? What are the benefits of eating plant-based foods?!

Plant-based foods include fruit, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. Anything that grows in the ground or that comes from the earth is plant-based. The difference between eating plant-based foods is that they will keep us thriving with energy, love, and life! They are fresh, colorful, and pure, and they contain all of the vitamins and minerals that our bodies need to properly function. The benefits are truly unlimited, and they become even more helpful to us the more consistently and abundantly that we eat them!

I recommend eating/blending/juicing at least 2 FullyRaw heads a day for maximum benefits.  ♥ If you are looking for fun daily recipes, you can find all plant-based recipes on my FullyRawKristina YouTube Channel, FullyRaw and Kristina Carrillo-Bucaram Facebook pages, and in the Rawfully Organic recipe archive! Stay dedicated to picking up a share each week at Rawfully Organic. Eat as many fruits and veggies as your heart desires!

Dark green leafy vegetables are, calorie for calorie, probably the most concentrated source of nutrition of any food. They are a rich source of minerals (including iron, calcium, potassium, and magnesium) and vitamins, including vitamins K, C, E, and many of the B vitamins. They also provide a variety of phytonutrients including beta-carotene, lutein, and zeaxanthin, which protect our cells from damage and our eyes from age-related problems, among many other effects. Dark green leaves even contain small amounts of Omega-3 fats.

Eating plant-based foods is essential for proper digestion and elimination. They are known to ease constipation as well as other digestive issues such as Crohn’s disease, heartburn, and diarrhea.

Perhaps the star of these nutrients is Vitamin K. A cup of most greens provides at least nine times the minimum recommended intake of Vitamin K, and even a couple of cups of dark salad greens usually provide the minimum all on their own. Recent research has provided evidence that this vitamin may be even more important than we once thought (the current minimum may not be optimal), and many people do not get enough of it.

More benefits of eating GREENS rich in Vitamin K:

Regulates blood clotting
Helps protect bones from osteoporosis
May help prevent and possibly even reduce atherosclerosis by reducing calcium in arterial plaques
May be a key regulator of inflammation, and may help protect us from inflammatory diseases including arthitis
May help prevent diabetes

These foods help us feel more energy, have fun, and enjoy life! Everyone knows that eating more fruits and veggies are better for you, so why not fill up your plate and enjoy all of the flavors that nature has to offer? Everyone can benefit from increasing the plant-based foods in his/her diet. Challenge yourself and try eating one FullyRaw meal a day. Try a juice, smoothie, fruit bowl, or even a rainbow salad! Give your body the opportunity to feel life. Feed it right! Share the FullyRaw love! Hugs!
