This is the most popular time of the year for health. People have made their resolutions to FINALLY lose weight and eat right. But, don’t we hear this every year? If people really want to get healthy, then why do they continue to make poor health choices? Where do our priorities stand, and how addicted to poor habits are we that we cannot control what goes into our bodies and how we treat our temples?

At one point in my life, I made resolutions to get healthy. Now, I live healthfully everyday. My resolutions this year had more to do with emotional goals and spiritual freedom than they do with health because I have mastered that arena of my life. This is possible for you as well. What does it take? Here are my top tips to help you breathe and achieve those goals that are deep in your heart:

1) Envision: The first step in making any goal and achieving it is to have a vision! What do you want? Take that desire and create an enactment in your mind of what it looks like. This is a very powerful exercise! The power of intention uses your thoughts to create tangible dreams! Write down your vision and keep it next to you. Reread this vision often to keep yourself focused on your goals.

2) Plan: Create a plan for your vision. Now that you see what you want, ask yourself what the necessary steps may be to help you achieve that resolution.Use a calender and write down your daily goals, your time frame, and your means to make it happen. Use your connections and network if possible. Remember the importance of community; no man is an island. If you can share these goals with others, you may find that you have a support team behind you or that you have friends who will join you in your journey!

3) Execute: Make it happen! Take your goals and your plan, and configure the steps to make your dreams a reality. You don’t need to conquer your vision in one day, so please do not pressure yourself to do so. Keep it comfortable yet challenging for you. In your plans, find a way to measure your goals daily or weekly so that you can track your progress. Most importantly, effort is what counts here. Give it your heart and just do it!

4) Consistency: the key to any successful practice is consistency. Many people make goals for 30 day diets; however, when those 30 days are up, so is the diet. Make a lifetime goal for growth. If you give up meat, don’t just do it for 30 days, incorporate it into your lifestyle. If you’re not ready to completely give up meat past that 30 day mark, then wean yourself off slowly so that you will stick with your routine. Even if your pace is slower than you would like, remember that you will see more success long term being patient with yourself and sticking to your agenda. If you want to succeed at something, be consistent with it and have patience. This is one of the most important secrets to success.

5) Faith: Know that the steps that you take for yourself will change your life for the better. Trust that you are becoming a better you! There will be moments where you feel stagnant or where you feel like a failure. Pick yourself back up, dust off your shoulders, and take another step forward. See growth opportunities for what they truly are: life lessons for self-improvement! Have faith that you will achieve your goal and keep envisioning  that goal.

Hold your vision in your mind and complete this cycle again if you fall off-track. However, be gentle with yourself. Everyone comes from different places and moves at a different pace. You are doing the best that you can at every given moment in time. Trust that you love yourself enough to make a change. Otherwise, you would not be reading this post. ;)

If your goal is to get healthy this year, then get healthy! Remember that it is YOUR choice. Take responsibility for your actions, whether good or bad. When we see a clear and honest reflection of ourselves is when we make the best progress towards personal development. What do you look like in your mind as a healthy person?  Take your hopeful vision and then take your first step in feeling THAT HIGH ON LIFE ALL OF THE TIME! Resolutions are for improved, personal, and permanent change in one’s life. It’s a promise to yourself, so keep it! You CAN do it.

Enough reading for you here…now go set your goals and conquer them! I believe in you!

Hugs!

FullyRaw Tips to Stay Warm in Winter!

When I first went raw, my body fat percentage lowered, and I naturally felt colder b/c my body was learning to regulate itself. Now, I don’t feel as cold, I actually deal with the cold better.

My body needed time to adapt and level out. Now, I deal with the cold fine as long as I adhere to these simple tips!

Many people associate being warm with eating “warm” foods; however, this isn’t always the case. One does not need to eat warm foods to feel warm or to keep warm. I’ve noticed that for me, I get colder eating “warmer” foods b/c it throws off your body temperature. After you eat something warm, your body cools back off and expends energy trying to regulate your temperature again. Therefore, your body remains more stable eating room temperature raw foods, which will help you in the long run.

It’s not always possible to move to a warm climate, so create your own in your home! Turn up the heater. Why not create a tropic zone in your house if you can? If it keeps you happy, it’s actually less expensive than using the AC in the summer months!

Travel if you can! Visit places that you want!

It’s mental not physical.

Wear warm clothing and layer up! Double pairs of socks.

Take warm showers and practice skin brushing to increase blood circulation.

Get exercise! Build muscle and get to the gym or play outdoors. Muscle keeps you warm:  keeps your blood pumping and adds a bit of “meat” to your bones!
Building muscle gives you coating, and please keep in mind that it is not fat, it’s muscle. Working out helps you breath and get your circulatory system MOVING. This creates a flow of energy.
Don’t get lazy people! Get active! Makes the time pass faster!

Use your resources: electric blankets, hot tubs, and warm baths are all magical!

SNUGGLE: Body heat is the fastest kind of heat! And the best way to keep warm!

Eat things room temperature! Not cold not hot.

I’ve never found spicy foods to help me be warmer, but I will say that cayenne pepper or ginger are GREAT truly raw warming additions. Don’t make a meal out of them, but perhaps blend them in a salad dressing of sorts.

Stock up on foods the same as you would in the summer or fall, just with the varieties available to you that season. For instance, persimmons, dates, bananas, durians, greens…whatever is abundant. Many do eat frozen foods at this time…if that’s all you can get, it’s OK. Don’t stress about that! See my video about What I Eat in a Winter Day Here.

You can drink tea, but still messes up your body temperature.

Light candles or burn incense. When people see candles, they feel warmer. It’s a mental thing.

Stay away from alcohol b/c it chills the body.

Eat enough and eat calorie dense foods like fruits. Get full on fruits! It produces heat that more easily circulates in your body. If I overeat, I will actually OVER HEAT. This creates heat in the CORE of your body and spreads warmth throughout your system. You feel warmer b/c your digestive system is functioning and it circulates this heat throughout your extremities.

Up your fat intake in winter?? You can, but you may notice weight gain. If you do, I recommend avocados because tend to constipate you more. Increase to 20% perhaps… because in summer you may not be eating fat at all. Keep in mind that it balances out yearly or even seasonally. I eat durian quite a bit in the winter, but I don’t eat it at all in the summer averages out.

Remember it IS a journey.
Remember your pleasant and unpleasant experiences and learn from all of them so that you can figure out what works for you and what doesn’t! Have fun! Give hugs!

How to Travel and Eat FullyRaw!

I BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF FRUITS AND VEGGIES. DO YOU?

Our nation is unhealthy. While some may be practicing good health, more are unhealthy than healthy. I think now more than ever people are looking for health. Not just any type of health, but a solution to unease; a means to dissatisfaction. Society continuously searches for the “quick fix” to some of the most deep-rooted issues; yet, these self-destructive habits cannot be changed overnight. The solution seems to be complicated, but it is actually simple. The question is: are you brave enough to embark on the journey to ultimate body freedom?

When I first went FullyRaw almost 8 years ago, I had no idea the transformation that would take place. Fruits and vegetables would change my life? Really? Sure, why not. If you eat them you feel better physically, right? YES. As a result, I found perfect physical health! Ironically, I didn’t expect for the rest of my life to change. My mindset changed, my emotions changed, and my heart changed. All of the things that I truly wanted for myself, I finally envisioned the manifestation for these possibilities. More importantly, I saw myself as worthy to have them. Then, I developed the bravery to take the steps towards making them happen. What desires and dreams and I speaking of specifically?

Before when I was hyperglycemic, I always dreamed of having the perfect health, perfect body, and perfect confidence. Ironically, I saw this “Kristina” in my head, but I never acted like her in real life. She was my prototype. Becoming FullyRaw was like skydiving: I took the leap with complete faith that the person I wanted to become would manifest as a beacon of health inspiration to show the world what is possible through raw living. Eat raw isn’t just about the food, but it is just about the food. My transformation started with fruits and veggies; here I still stand with fruits and veggies. Am I in the same place? Yes and no. I eat just as clean as I did when I first started this journey; however, I stand before you transformed. I’m in a new element of confidence, happiness, healthiness, self-love, community love, family love, and hope.

I do believe in the power of fruits and veggies. Anyone who has tried a bite of what raw wants another bite. There is something about eating raw that not only makes you CRAVE the fresh food, but also the image of what your body would be like completely PURE. Not to mention, there is something about being totally tied to the earth in a way that connects you with all living things. You turn ON, and there is no going back without an inner subconscious battle. So why not do it? Why not serve as a light, an inspiration to everyone you know?

Drug companies dish out a different type of drug that has our nation in a downward spiral. Smoking. Drinking. Hate. Contamination. Littering. Pesticides. Hate. Self-Banter. Rudeness. Our nation is unhealthy. Fewer live in harmonic peace with their bodies and with the earth than not. But, this HARMONY is what we SEEK. It is that of which we dream. Take that step. What can help us? What can get to the root of the problem? What has the power to CHANGE our NATION? What has the power to save humanity when everything else feels like it’s crumbling beneath our feet? Can the solution be as simple as fruits and vegetables?

Deceivingly enough, the simple solution is not a pill. While a pill appears to be a small, harmless antidote, it serves as a metaphoric representation of evil. It is white, colorless, and lifeless. Place it next to a perfectly juicy and plump blueberry and physically see the difference. One oozes juice; the other does not. One has life; the other does not. When we eat REAL FOOD, we have life. Real food HAS LIFE. Raw food is life: LIFE-GIVING.

I believe in the power of fruits and veggies to create change infinitely. I often imagine a world where fruits and veggies are growing EVERYWHERE. A healthy nation where everyone is in-tune with their bodies and with the earth and where everyone is truly blissful. I have a dream of living in perfect, respectful, and loving harmony with all living creatures. Do you see this vision? I hope that you do, and I hope that you help me to create it one fruit and veggie at a time. If you struggle with eating raw, take it one day at a time. Start with simply enjoying meals of fruit and enjoying the abundance before you. Watch this transform you, and enjoy this journey. Open your heart to change and LOVE every experience. YOU CAN HELP OUR NATION. I’ll be right there beside you enjoying the same. :)

I BELIEVE. DO YOU?

Do you feel like it is too hard to eat raw and still keep your social life? I’m here to tell you that being FullyRaw is about sharing your lifestyle and your passion for eating healthy foods with the world! When we eat foods that make us feel good, we want to share this amazing feeling with family and friends as well! Shine bright and enjoy your social life, even if you are eating raw! Here are my top tips and tricks on how you can Live FullyRaw and Eat Socially!

Before I share my tips and tricks, I want to share a few important realizations that I have had. Realize that our society highly revolves around food. Relationships are more than just about food—relationships include your relationship with yourself and with others. I’ve realized that being raw has allowed me to bond with people on a much deeper level. My interactions with people are not just non-challant meetings over lunch, but they include activities that interest both of us, and we have FUN doing them! We go running, walking, co-operating, rock climbing, swimming, surfing, tree hugging, etc. We get in an activity that we both enjoy, and we get the chance to talk more because our mouths aren’t filled with food.

  • Here are my simple tips and tricks to help you increase your social life when eating FullyRaw:
  1. Invite people over for dinner. Make them the BEST raw meal ever. SHARE it with them. Introduce your passion to them and allow them to be exposed and potentially allow them to become passionate about it as well.
  2. When you go to a restaurant, call before and ask what their options may be. Order a salad or a fruit plate.
  3. You can even bring your own food to a restaurant….I share my story about how I handled eating dinner at a restaurant for my sister’s birthday in my youtube video on my http://www.youtube.com/fullyrawkristina channel.
  4. Create and share a fun picnic!
  5. Use your online resources such as Happy Cow or Meetup.com and learn about your local community. Find your nearest raw vegan restaurant, juice stores, etc. ASK the chefs if they don’t mind preparing something for you. They don’t mind, and if they do, they will let you know.
  6. Find a potluck! Bring fruit to share!
  7. Go to a movie? Bring your own baggie of fruit or carrots or okra or dates! Dates are WAY better than popcorn lol!
  8. Create a community of friends with the same common interest as you.

Even when you think that you are alone, you are NOT alone. There are SO many out there who want to be healthy who feel the same way. Get on our FullyRawKristina facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/fullyrawkristina). Post and ask if there are people on your area. Get on meetup.com and search for meetups. Look on 30 bananas a day. If you’re in Houston, come hang out at Rawfully Organic (http://www.rawfullyorganic.com). We have the LARGEST raw food vegan co-op in the US with the most amazing people! CREATE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD.

Use these simple ideas to help you branch out in your community. When you share this gift with others, you not only feel good about yourself, but you make others feel good as well! You are sharing the amazing gift of health with them by living as an example! What a blessing!

Please feel free to share these thoughts with others or share this video with family and friends. You can also leave your comments or additional ideas below. I LOVE reading your suggestions!

Sending my hugs and love to you! Now get out there and enjoy this amazing health of yours…and share it with the world!

Hippocrates once quoted, “Let food by thy medicine.” This is truth. In today’s society, too many search for quick “fixes” or easy ways to fix health problems. I’ve had many individuals ask me lately why I believe that the co-op is important. Although I believe that eating raw is vital and essential, I also believe that many other factors are equally crucial. Allow me to reword this phrase: If food is thy medicine, allow healthful living to be the cure.

The co-op is important for several reasons. Firstly, I believe that access to fresh, organic, and raw food is vital to one’s physical and mental health, especially when it is grown locally. Food is healing to our bodies. Raw foods contain powerful vitamins and minerals that provide our bodies with the tools it needs to regenerate and to thrive. We have all heard the phrase, “An apple a day…,” but what if we ate more than one apple? Add a banana, a smoothie, and even a salad. Can you imagine how you would feel if you filled up your day with fresh fruits and vegetables? Eating more fruits and vegetables provides benefits such as weight loss, allergy relief, colon cleansing, acne clearing, disease prevention, cancer prevention, and sickness wipeout.  Not to mention, when one eats produce that is local, the food contains higher vitamin/mineral content, and it can provide even more health benefits for us! We feel the difference when we eat the colors of the rainbow. When we eat color, we emanate that color; we glow and shine! Our co-op boxes provide a means for us to have access to a beautiful bounty and variety of organic fruits and vegetables.

Raw foods not only have physical benefits that can help to alleviate or cure sickness, but also they provide mental benefits as well. When individuals come to volunteer at co-op, one of the main comments that I hear is that being around all of the colorful fruits and vegetables makes them feel happy. They say that being around these vibrant colors help them to feel vibrant as well. Even the smells speak to their senses as they interact with fresh food. Recent studies have shown that eating more fruits and vegetables can not only alleviate depression, but also reverse it. One doesn’t have to even eat them to see their benefits; their beauty is eye-candy enough to change your mood!

Our ROC community is so special. When people come to co-op, they see our volunteers, and they see that the people who create our co-operative is what makes us truly unique. Our volunteers come and donate their time: they have heart. This love and passion for food and health is generated by them and sent home in each one of your boxes that you bring home. The food is blessed in a sense with heart, and I believe this is one of the reasons that our produce tastes so rich with life. While the soil may be important, so is the tender care that is given to it as well. Our community supports our co-operative, and without our members, our amazing Rawfully Organic ceases to exist. Being a part of a community provides one with emotional support and friends. Social health is just as vital to one’s mental and emotional stability as the fruits and vegetables we intake—it’s a different type of food!

When we eat plants, we feel more connected to our earth. Spiritually, we feel more connected to everything around us. Just like eating more fruits and vegetables can help us to feel better physically and mentally, eating pure, raw fruits and vegetables can also help us to feel like our purpose on this planet is alive. We feel in tune and inspired. This inspiration is what drives us to improve ourselves and to also help others. When this realization hits, we see that we are all connected—we are all one. When we truly care for our temples (our bodies), we serve not only ourselves, but the world as a whole. No man is an island. What we do for ourselves affects everyone and everything around us. Our choices count; choose healthfully.

If you feel that our small community is a footprint in the sand, think again. Our footprints are merely a chain creating a massive chain in the walk of life. What we do touches everyone that we touch. As our health increases, so does the health of everyone around us. Even if others choose to eat a different path, we have still touched them with the message of health—they have been exposed to what is means to be Rawfully Organic.

Food is thy medicine because it physically cleanses our bodies. Health starts with food, but this agent has the ability to create so much more change. Food has the ability to instigate healing and force. It affects us on all levels because we truly are what we eat. Therefore, make wise food choices. Love your ROC’N boxes because they will love you back on distinguished levels! Rejoice in our beautiful resource and in our amazing community. Thank your body for the ability to heal and to change. Be the change that you wish to see—for your body and for the world and those that you love.

Thank you ALL for creating such an amazing community with us. Without you, Rawfully Organic is not possible. I can only send my love and gratitude to know you and to share such a gift with you! I hope to see you all at co-op this week! Sending you many hugs, lots of love, and abundant fruits and veggies for your dose of weekly “medicine.”

After the festival, I went to stay with my good family friends the Arnsteins (Victoria and Michael). The day after the festival, we attended a fruit-luck in NYC! SO MUCH FUN...fun pictures following... :)

The Whole Fruit Gang taking over NYC! Can I get a YA BABY for good times?!

Me and good friend Kyle from Houston & Rawfully Organic! So glad that he came with me this year! From Texas to NY, we totally represented this year! Hugs Kyle! :)

Me and good friend Chris Kendall... like his shirt? He's got the best! You should definitely check them out! :)

Yes, this is really happening! It's a Rob Kristina Rob sandwich!

Raw beauties Cynthia and...oh wait...is that me??? ;)

Time to see NYC! Where should we start??

Let's start with a run! Literally about to run through Manhattan! Watch this FullyRaw Goddess go for it!

Enjoying a jog through the city with Harley (Durianrider)...we missed you Freelee! :)

I even found fresh juice in the city! No excuses not to be FullyRaw!

An amazing view from Central Park! I ran all over this city!

After my run, Victoria showed me the most gorgeous skyline I have ever seen! Truly a sight in NYC! Will never forget this picture (the MET was right below us!)

My last day in NY I made sure to wear all of my lucky bracelets...some important meetings with book publishers on the way! NOTE: the red one has special significance and was also given to me by someone very special! :)

What do these two authors have in common with me?? Hopefully, you will find out very soon! :)

My last stop before I headed to the airport was to get fresh, raw, and organic juice to guzzle before I hopped on the plane. Raw is really everywhere now! No really...no excuses! LOVED these...YUM! :)

I hope that you all enjoyed these pictures as much as I experienced taking them! It was definitely a once in a lifetime trip and opportunity! All of these amazing people will be there with me next year, as I hope that you will be too! Thank you all for showing me SO much support in my passions and endeavors! Look forward to seeing many more fun things from me in the future! Hugs, hugs, and hugs! :)
