Volunteer hours are from 1-4 PM.
Volunteer sorting will take place from 9-10:30 AM.
Volunteering at co-op is one of the most special parts of participating in our co-op. We believe that the food tastes so good because of the labor of love that we place into the boxes. The food is blessed by wonderful people, and we believe the food tastes better because of the love that we put into sorting the shares. Because we depend on volunteers to sort the shares, we can only go as fast as how many volunteers that we have. Sometimes we finish on time, sometimes we finish late, and sometimes we finish early. Either way, never be afraid to jump in and lend a hand!
When you come to volunteer, please feel free to bring your own fruit, water, dirty clothes (they will get dirt on them! We deal with freshly picked, wet, and dirty, buggy veggies!!!), and anything else that makes you feel comfortable. The one requirement is to bring a smile on your face!
This page is used to update volunteers on any new procedures going on so that we can all be on the same page so that things run smoothly. If you have any ideas for this page or simply have any suggestions, please email kristina@rawfullyorganic.com for additions. This is the volunteer page, and all comments are awesome! Don't be shy! This co-op belongs to us all!
Please try to show up on time so that we can have a tiny orientation and so that specific tasks can be assigned.
When we start, we typically begin by setting up the tents. After that, we set out empty boxes and tables to get ready for the produce to arrive. When the food arrives, I share with you our sorting system so that we can make sure everyone has the proper amounts of food.
When we are done sorting, everyone shows up to pick up their boxes. Volunteers are greatly needed to show newbies how to pick out their choices, select their box, and check out at the front table. Show them how to do these things, and even explain to them that they can purchase extras off the table if they wish. Newbies are always scared and "lost," so let's make them feel as welcome as possible. Everyone has a home at ROC!
We will have designated checkout lines so that people aren't waiting a long time. If you have an iphone, you can help with the express line checkout. Otherwise, simply direct others in the right direction. If they need help carrying their box, please lend a hand. :)
Whoever gets the special task of walking around with the express checklist / clipboard must not collect money: their goal is simply to check off those who have paid online who are in a hurry and cannot wait in line to give Kristina or Sharon a hug!
Welcome those who are new and show them how to pick out their share and choices. Then, lead them to the table so that they can check out with Kristina. All are a bit intimidated when they first show up. Treat them like family, and simply take them around. Remember your first time, and try to think of how you wish someone would have greeted you!
Don't be afraid to talk to newbies! Everyone is a newbie at one time or another, and they are just excited to find such a cool co-op!!
If anyone comes across any other updates, please let Kristina know!
